How to Kill Those Headaches with The New Aspirin – Lemon Grass

by admin

Got a pain?  You pop an ibuprofen or take a Bayer’s but now you can walk out to your garden, make a few snips, and drink a tea and your headache is gone.  How cool is that?

In the world of herbal remedies, plants can do amazing things. After all, most of the drugs you use today all started out from plants. But there’s no beating Mother Nature for the source of pain relief.

Griffith University just released a five year study on plants that are proficient at relieving pain of headaches and migraines. One plant they showed to help with pain relief is lemon grass.  Yes, that tall, slender clump of grass at the end of your garden.

Back in “ye olden days”,  in many countries, indigenous people have used lemon grass as a traditional healing herb.  The study, released to the journal, Evidence-based Complementary and Alternative Medicine, showed how lemon grass works in the body the same as aspirin does.  According to Professor Lyn Griffiths, Dr. Darren Grice, and Dr. Kelly Rogers who say they found an extract called eugenol in lemon grass.  Eugenol works the same as aspirin – it prevents clots.

The doctors say headaches and migraines alter serotonin levels and interfere with normal function of blood platelets. Eugenol stops the platelets from clumping together.  It also helps to release serotonin.

Unfortunately, for the health community, plants for natural herbal remedies have been overlooked for many years.  Now doctors are just now trying to catch up.  Luckily, Mother Nature is lenient and hopefully understands we humans think we know more than she does.  She’s kept all the herbal remedies in prime condition until we find them all and test them.  So if all this gives you a headache then a walk in your garden for lemon grass tea will hit the spot.
