Plum Flower Major Bupleurum Teapills Harmonizes the Shao Yang, Soothes the Liver, Clears Liver and Gallbladder Heat, Purges Accumulation due to Yang Ming Heat
Indications:
Simultaneous Shao Yang and Yang Ming disorders, or excess heat in the Gall Bladder and Stomach. Presenting with alternating fever and chills, fullness in the chest and costal region (with or without pain), hard, focal epigastric distention, abdominal and epigastric pain, nausea, continuous vomiting, bitter taste in the mouth, irritability, manic behavior, constipation or urgent diarrhea, red, sore eyes, temporal or frontal headaches. Biomedical Applications:
acute gastroenteritis, gastrointestinal flu, dysentery, intestinal obstruction, acute pancreatitis, cholecystitis, cholelithiasis, jaundice, hepatitis, costochondritis, post-herpetic neuralgia, intercostal neuralgia, peritonitis, pleurisy, malignant hypertension, malaria, mania, migraine headache
Standard Dosage:
8 pills, 3 x day.
Clinical Dosage:
Administer half an hour before or one hour after eating. In acute or severe disorders, dosage may be increased to 8-12 pills every 2-4 hours, then reduced to a maintenance dose as the treatment takes effect. May be used short-term for few days to a few weeks. Once acute heat signs are resolved, this formula should be discontinued, and replaced with a milder formula. This is a cold formula, and can easily damage the Spleen and Stomach Qi.
Ingredients:
Zingiber officinale rhizome-fresh, Bupleurum chinense root, Pinellia ternata rhizome, Scutellaria baicalensis root, Citrus aurantium fruit-immature, Paeonia lactiflora root, Ziziphus jujuba fruit, Rheum palmatum root. – Sheng jiang, Chai hu, Ban xia, Huang qin, Zhi shi, Bai shao, Da zao, Da huang.
Cautions & Contraindications:
Contraindicated for very weak or deficient patients. Contraindicated during pregnancy and menstruation. Use with caution in breast-feeding women as Da huang/rhubarb can pass through the breast milk causing colic and diarrhea in infants. May cause mild abdominal cramping in sensitive patients. Not recommended for long term use.
