A natural healer’s goal is not to “cure” anything, but to promote the body’s innate healing powers and address the underlying causes of a health imbalance. You could simply call this “health improvement.” Most natural remedies work in just this way. Instead of focusing on fighting a disease, the goal is to help the body function better. In the natural healing field, this is called the “structural-functional” approach or when used by professionals such as nutritionists, chiropractors, doctors, and others, it is called functional medicine.
Structural-Functional health practitioners understand that when the body is functioning up to its optimal level, then oftentimes what we call symptoms, conditions or disease, disappear or become lessened.
