Chinese Bulk Herbs – Andrographis (Chuan Xin Lian)
The long use of Andrographis in Chinese and Ayurvidic medicine makes this herb perfect for reducing inflammation and boosting the immune system. It has been used for various infections and is commonly used for digestive problems.
In the early 1990s, studies showed it could reduce the symptoms of the common cold. There are studies to show it may benefit those suffering from viral hepatitis. Mixed with other herbs it can be used for fevers, coughs, and lung abscess including chest pain from a cough with thick sputum.

Clears Pathogenic Heat, eliminates Dampness, and promotes diuresis.

Properties:
Andrographis is bitter in flavor, cold in property, acts on the lung, stomach, large intestine, and small intestine.
Cautions:
Andrographis should not be used by pregnant women or women who are breastfeeding. It has been know to cause an upset stomach in some people. To alleviate this, reduce the amount andrographis or take it with food. There are no known drug interactions with andrographis at this time.
