Western Bulk Herbs – Eucalyptus Leaf
Known as the fever tree in Europe, eucalyptus leaf is used for asthma, bronchitis, colds and flu, emphysema, and whooping cough. It’s also used to sterilize surgical instruments and used as a steam, will treat strep throat. Eucalyptus oil is not to be taken internally. Use it as an oil rub instead. Use Eucalyptus leaf for tea and steams.

Traditional Uses:
Facial or hydro-steams, aromatherapy, and teas. It can be made into capsules and extracts.

Cautions:
Do not use eucalyptus if you have low blood pressure, kidney inflammation, stomach inflammation, intestinal inflammation, or biliary inflammation. Avoid use if you have a liver disorder and do not use essential oil on children under the age of 2. Never ingest eucalyptus essential oil.
Folk Lore:
It became known throughout the world when an Australian freighter’s crew developed fevers and they used the leaves for the eucalyptus tree to break them. They spread the word about eucalyptus and how good it was for everything from sterilizing surgical instruments to taking care of whooping cough.
