Chinese Bulk Herbs – Green Citrus Peel (Qing Pi)

Green Citrus Peel or Qing Pi is used to break up stagnation in the chest, breast, and hernial regions of the body. It dries out phlegm and breast abscesses and can raise the blood pressure.

This herb is the processed peel and young fruit of the mandarin orange tree. The peel takes on different properties of flavor and healing when it has matured, and so these are harvested before their color has turned.

Clinical Use (Chinese):
Spreads liver Qi and breaks up stagnation – liver Qi stagnation symptoms such as distention and chest pain, breast, and hernial pain.

Qing Pi

Common Names:
Immature or green tangerine peel, blue citrus

Parts Used:
Unripe Tangerine Peel

Properties:
Bitter, acrid, and warm. Channels: Gallbladder, Liver, and Stomach.
