Plum Flower Huang Lian Jie Du Wan Heats toxins or damp heat in all three jiao (burners) presenting with high fever, irritability, insomnia, dry mouth and throat, sore throat, thirst for cold liquids, voracious appetite, clove sore (Ding Chuang), deep-rooted sores, rashes, dark, concentrated, strong smelling urine, constipation, dysenteric disorders, strong smelling, burning diarrhea, nosebleeds, bleeding gums, coughing, spitting or vomiting up blood, delirious speech, jaundice. septicemia, lymphangitis, encephalitis, rheumatic fever, amebic or bacterial dysentery, acute enteritis, appendicitis, diverticulitis, Helicobacter pylori infection, acute gastritis, acute hepatitis, jaundice, acute cholecystitis, otitis media, conjunctivitis, tonsillitis, pneumonia, urinary tract infection, pelvic inflammatory disease, hemoptysis, epistaxis, hematemesis, dental abscess, toothache, pyogenic skin infections, acne, carbuncles, boils, pruritus, impetigo, erysipelas, urticaria, folliculitis, tinea, trichomonas, cellulitis, drug-resistant infections, acute viral or bacterial infections, idiopathic fevers, gout, hypertension, anxiety disorders, palpitations, hysteria

Standard Dosage:
8 pills, 3 x day.

Clinical Dosage:
Administer half an hour before or one hour after eating. In acute or severe disorders, dosage may be increased to 8-12 pills every 2-4 hours, then reduced to a maintenance dose as the treatment takes effect. May be used short-term for few days to a few weeks. Once acute heat symptoms are resolved, this formula should be discontinued and replaced with a milder formula. This is a very cold and bitter formula and can easily damage the Spleen and Stomach Qi.

Ingredients:
Coptis chinensis rhizome, Gardenia jasminoides fruit, Scutellaria baicalensis root, Phellodendron amurense bark. – Huang lian, Zhi zi, Huang qin, Huang bai.

Cautions & Contraindications: Contraindicated for very weak or deficient patients. Use with caution in Spleen deficient patients with a tendency to loose stools, diarrhea, poor appetite or chronic digestive weakness.
