Chinese Bulk Herbs – Ligustrum Fruit (Nu Zhen Zi)

Ligustrum is used for blurred vision, muscular degeneration and cataracts and tinnitus. It’s also been used to stop premature graying of the hair.

The Ligustrum tree is a relative to the olive that is native to China, but has been successfully cultivated in many nations around the world. Often used as an ornament, even as a hedge bush with proper trimming.

The fruits and seeds of the ligustrum tree are what provide the medicinal value, and are used rather commonly in Chinese medicine.

Clinical Use (Chinese):
Tonifies Yin of Liver and Kidneys, Especially useful for Yin Deficiency with Heat and strengthens legs and knees, treats blurred vision, premature graying of hair and tinnitus.
