Chinese Bulk Herbs – Lily Bulb (Bai He)

Dried Lily Bulb is used for treating coughs that have become chronic. If you have low-grade fever, restlessness, irritability, insomnia with dreams, and can’t concentrate, then Lily bulb will help.

It can also be used for ulcers, spleen, and boils.

Clinical Use (Chinese):
Clear heat and calm the spirit – low fever, insomnia, restlessness, irritability in the aftermath of a febrile disease, palpitations from qi and/or yin deficiency.

Lilium brownii

Bai He

Common Names:
Lily bulb, Hong Kong lily, Brown’s lily, wild lily

Parts Used:
Bulb

Properties:
Moisten the lungs, clear heat, and stop coughing – cough from dry lungs or lung heat, sore throat.

Cautions:
Should not be used in cases of a cough due to wind-cold or phlegm, or in those with diarrhea due to spleen deficient.
