Chinese Bulk Herbs – Lotus Leaf (He Ye)
Lotus leaf is used to treat a variety of conditions, ranging from vomiting with blood and blood in the urine to metorrhagia and diarrhea. You can also use it for garnish, float it in soups, and used the petals as a wrap for your favorite foods. The petals have a calming effect on the body.
Clinical Use (Chinese):
Treats summerheat patterns – fever, irritability, excessive sweating, scanty urine, diarrhea due to summerheat.

Properties:
All of parts of the plant may be used, they’re properties are as an astringent, cardiotonic, febrifuge, hypotensive, resolvent, stomachic, styptic, tonic and vasodilator.
Folk Lore:
Lotus flowers have been used throughout history and are refereed to as the Sacred Lotus. The American Indians used them for a food staple for starch. They were named in Homer’s Odyssey when the crew of Ulysses came ashore on the island of the Lotus Eaters.
