Chinese Bulk Herbs – Lysimachia (Jin Qian Cao)
Lysimachia has been used for a variety of urinary disorders, from painful urination and frequent urination to bladder stones in the urinary tract. It has been used sometimes to treat jaundice, and you can apply it externally to treat boils and skin infections.
Clinical Use (Chinese):
It acts on the liver, gallbladder, kidney and urinary bladder channels. Lysimachia is sweet and salty in flavour, and slightly cold in nature.

Properties:
Sweet and tasteless for inducing diuresis and excreting dampness, salty for softening hard masses, and slightly cold for clearing heat, the herb can eliminate damp-heat, treat stranguria and jaundice.
Cautions:
Because lysimachia acts as a type of diuretic, long-term use may deplete the body of potassium and cause dizziness. It is recommended to take potassium supplements in addition to lysimachia. Use with caution if you have diarrhea. Tell your doctor if you’re taking lysimachia if you are perscriped antidiuretic medications.
