Western Bulk Herbs – Pau D’arco Bark
The least understood herbs from the rainforest of the Amazon, Pau d’arco is used to treat infections, pain, arthritis, fevers, and some cancers.
Studies are being done now to treat colds and flu, sore throats, and yeast infections. There is even a study being done to see if this fantastic herb will protect from tropical diseases specifically malaria, schistosomiasis, and tropical fevers.
Pau d’arco is added to ointments for treatment of psoriasis and if taken orally it will relieve ulcers.

Chemical Properties:
Lapachol, lapachone, and isolapachone are the best studied chemical compounds in pau d’arco, although most herbal practitioners attribute the healing power of the herb to its tannins.
Cautions:
Although generally regarded as safe, it is speculated that Pau D’Arco should be avoided during pregnancy.
