Red root is used as a treatment for upper respiratory problems, coughs, sore throats, bronchitis, and asthma. It is also used as a sedative and helps lower blood pressure.

This powerful herb is available in both raw herbal form as well as a tincture.

Ceanothus americanus

Common Names:
Ceanothus americanus. New Jersey tea, Ceanote, Mountain Sweet, Tobacco Brush, Deer Brush, and Wild Snowball.

Parts Used:
Root bark.

Properties:
Astringent, antispasmodic, anti-syphilitic expectorant and sedative,

Traditional Uses:
Teas, tinctures and in capsule form.

Not used in cooking.
