Min Shan Xiao Chai Hu Tang Wan
Min Shan Xiao Chai Hu Tang Wan Harmonizes the Shao Yang, Moves Liver Qi, Tonifies Qi, Disperses Phlegm, Clears Heat, Harmonizes the Middle Jiao.
Indications:
Shao Yang stage disorder presenting with alternating fever and chills or an alternating sensation of heat and cold, dry throat, bitter or sour taste in the mouth, fullness in the chest and costal region that is often experienced as difficulty taking in deep breaths, dizziness, vertigo, loss of appetite, heartburn, nausea, vomiting, fatigue, irritability. Also for Liver and Spleen disharmony with either phlegm or dampness, and heat in the Liver, Lungs, or Intestines with a similar presentation, including lingering colds and flu, digestive disturbances and menstrual disorders. Tongue: yellow and white coat Pulse: wiry.**
Biomedical Applications:
Lingering symptoms during the post-acute stage of febrile illness or upper respiratory tract infection, persistent viral or parasitic infection, post viral syndrome, chronic fatigue syndrome, low grade infection of uncertain etiology, Epstein-Barr syndrome, post acute glandular fever, post-partum fever, post-partum cold and flu, cold and flu during menses, side-effects of immunization, bronchitis, pleurisy, pneumonia, pulmonary tuberculosis, sinusitis, tonsillitis, otitis media, recurrent pediatric otitis media, pediatric diarrhea, chronic constipation, acute rheumatic fever, malaria, epidemic parotitis, mastitis, cholecystitis, cholelithiasis, acute hepatitis, chronic hepatitis, jaundice, costochondritis, post-herpetic neuralgia, intercostal neuralgia, cystitis, renal colic, acute pyelonephritis, gastritis, peptic ulcer disease.*
Standard Dosage:
8 pills, 3 x day.
Clinical Dosage:
Administer Xiao Chai Hu Tang Wan half an hour before or one hour after eating, or with food to facilitate digestion of meals. In severe cases or in the initial phases of treatment, dosage may be increased to 8-12 pills 3 times per day, and then reduced to a maintenance dose as the treatment takes effect. May be used medium-term for a few weeks to a few months. Once the acute symptoms of this condition are resolved, this formula should be discontinued, or replaced with an appropriate constitutional formula.**
Ingredients:
Bupleurum chinense root, Pinellia ternata rhizome, Codonopsis pilosula root, Scutellaria baicalensis root, Ziziphus jujuba fruit, Glycyrrhiza uralensis root, Zingiber officinale rhizome-fresh. – Chai hu, Ban xia, Dang shen, Huang qin, Da zao, Gan cao, Sheng jiang.
Cautions & Contraindications:
Contraindicated for patients taking interferon. Contraindicated in conditions of excess above, deficiency below. Contraindicated for Liver fire. Use with caution in Liver Yang rising or hypertension.**
