Our program and the methods we use:

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is a pain condition that manifests with pain, tingling, and numbness in the hand, fingers, or wrist. It is not a disease, but a musculoskeletal or myofascial pain syndrome. It is best treated by a soft tissue therapy, rather than surgery, or traditional physical therapy. We have worked with many, many people who have been diagnosed with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, and virtually all of them improved.

Avoid surgery! Here are some of the methods we use:

Neuromuscular Therapy: reduces muscular contractions, adhesions, and nerve impingement that are the roots of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. There can be nerve entrapment and impingement in the wrist, hand, forearm, arm, shoulder, neck, upper back, and even the jaw that are causes of Carpal Tunnel.

Myofascial Release: lengthens shortened connective tissues (fascia) in hand, forearm, arm, and shoulder that cause the Carpal Tunnel to compress and cause pain and numbness.

Hydrotherapy: simple ice therapy can reduce swelling and inflammation in forearm, hand, and Carpal Tunnel. This is very helpful. Therapeutic Ice Soak (PDF)

Stretching: it is important to have a stretching program of hands, forearms, shoulders, and sometimes neck to prevent Carpal Tunnel symptoms from coming back.

Vitamins: there are well known vitamins that help Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. Two we like are vitamins B6 (pyridoxine) and B2 (riboflavin). They help reduce the inflammation and pain in the tissues and improve metabolism. Vitamin C is also helpful.

Herbs: many herbs help inflammation. As an example, two we have used for many years, Marshmallow root and Yucca root, are excellent for healing the effects of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. We also recommend Turmeric capsules or Turmeric milk.

Sometimes Physical Therapy and Acupuncture can help this condition, but most of our clients have already been the standard medical route, taken drugs, and have already seen regular therapists and sometimes alternative practitioners before coming to see us. If you have already tried and given up on other approaches, our synergistic program may be the answer for you.
