Chinese Bulk Herbs – Picrorhiza (Hu Huang Lian)

Picrorhiza or Hu Huang Lian has been used in the treatment of most illnesses from hyperemia and dysentery to jaundice, hemorrhoids, epilepsy and carbuncles. Studies show the compounds in picrorhiza stimulate the immune system, fight bacteria, and protect the liver from toxic substances.

Recent studies show it to be effective for asthma attacks due to its antiasthmatic properties.

Clinical Use (Chinese):
Clears Heat due to Yin Deficiency, relieves hectic fever, and eliminates Damp Heat.
