Chinese Bulk Herbs – Psoralea (Bu Gu Zhi)

Psoralea is an excellent herb to improve overall vitality. On the inside it can clear up diarrhea and pain in the lower back. It has also been used to as a treatment for frequent urination, incontinence, and bed wetting as well as treat psoriasis and alopecia and some skin abrasions

Clinical Use (Chinese):
Tonify Kidney, strengthen yang – impotence, premature ejaculation, cold and painful lower back. Stabilizes urine – enuresis, incontinence of urine, frequent urination, spermatorrhea. Tonify and strengthen spleen yang – cold deficient spleen diarrhea, borborygmus, abdominal pain.

Can also aid kidneys to grasp lung qi – wheezing, asthma. And apply topically for alopecia, psoriasis, and vitiligo.

Properties:
Acrid, bitter, very warm

Cautions:
Psoralea should not be used by patients who have yin deficiency, or who present with constipation.
