Chinese Bulk Herbs – Scirpus (San Leng)
Scirpus or San Leng as the Chinese call it, is good to use if you’re breastfeeding as it promotes the production of milk. It also stimulates menstrual flow and reduces pain from childbirth and can be used as a treatment for abdominal masses.
Studies are underway for using Scirpus or San Leng as a treatment for cancerous growths. The results look good so far.
Clinical Use (Chinese):
Breaks up blood stasis, promotes movement of Qi, alleviates pain – amenorrhea, dysmenorrhea, post postpartum abdominal pain, abdominal masses. Dissolves food stagnation, accumulations.

Bitter in flavor, neutral in property.
Cautions:
Since scirpus increases the flow during menstruation, it should not be used by pregnant women or those who are trying to get pregnant.
